Tire Swing, 2003. Oil on canvas, 36 x 36 inches.
Private Collection.

One day in Central Park I noticed three girls having fun swinging on a tire swing. I would have expected them in their pretty dresses to be on conventional swings. The joy they expressed was real, beautiful and free spirited, quite different from the protective fences and wall that surrounded them.
